What does our skin hide? We take apart the dermis — the most important layer!
Your skin is not just a "wrapper", but a complex organ consisting of several layers. And the most important of them is Derma, a real factory of youth and protection! 🔬✨
What's in there?
The dermis is:
Blood and lymphatic vessels — nourish the skin, deliver oxygen and nutrients.
Sweat and sebaceous glands — regulate humidity, protect from drying out.
The nerve endings are responsible for sensitivity (and therefore for pleasant touches).
✔️ Hair roots — without them, neither curls nor even a light down would grow.
But the main "stars" of the dermis are collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
Collagen and elastin: the skeleton of youth
Collagen is like steel beams, it makes the skin elastic.
Elastin is like a rubber band, it helps the skin to get back in shape.
Check your skin turgor: pinch yourself on the back of your hand and let go. If the skin is instantly smoothed out, you have a good turgor! If it's slow, it means that collagen and elastin are low, and it's time to think about leaving.
Hyaluronic acid is a magnet for moisture 💦
One of its molecules holds 1,000 times more water than it weighs. That is why the skin is so elastic when you are young. But it gets smaller with age, hence the dryness and wrinkles.
Who maintains the balance?
Fibroblasts are building cells. They synthesize collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. But after 25-30 years, their activity decreases. Histiocytes are protective cells. They're like micro-cops: they catch bacteria and destroy them.
What should I do to keep my skin young?
✔️ Moisturize your skin — look for products with hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
✔️ Stimulate collagen production — vitamin C, peptides, retinol help
✔️ Protect yourself from the sun — SPF is required!
✔️ Check your skin condition with a cosmetologist once every 1-2 years — sometimes deep procedures (biorevitalization, collagenation) are needed.
Remember: skin aging begins in the dermis, so proper care is not only creams, but also nutrition, protection and care from the inside!
