In classical cosmetology, there are four main skin types:
normal, dry, oily, and combination.
Skin type is a genetically determined characteristic related to sebaceous gland activity and the skin barrier.

Normal skin

Healthy, smooth, elastic, with an even fresh tone.
No excess shine or flaking, pores are barely visible, inflammation is rare.
Well-tolerated by most cosmetic products.

However, normal skin can be prone to faster aging without proper care.

Oily skin

The most problematic type.
Excess sebum production causes shine, enlarged pores, acne and inflammation.
Often has a yellowish or grayish tone.

Less prone to premature aging due to natural lipid protection.

Combination skin

Most common skin type.
Oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) with enlarged pores and possible breakouts,
while cheeks remain normal or dry.

Usually resistant to early aging but requires zone-specific care.

Dry skin

Thin, delicate, and sensitive.
Prone to flaking, tightness, irritation, and early fine lines.
Small pores, matte appearance, and frequent reactions to cosmetics.

Knowing your skin type is the foundation of effective skincare and long-term skin health.
